Every single person has emotions, including the infants and children. Young children’s emotions are much more unpredictable than adults. Where The Wild Things Are, explores children’s emotions, self-acceptance and self-love as its subject. The story tells a discovery of inner selves. We all have the ‘wild things’ within us, we have all kinds of emotions, including the ‘unpleasant’ ones. We should learn to accept them and control them before they becomes unmanageable. Besides, try to step into someone else’s shoes and understand their situation before starting an argument. The indestructible love between the family members are also being portrayed.

With modern American and Native American culture as inspiration,, I have set the reality and Wild Things' World based on the two American cultures. One is contemporary while the other one is full of senses of 'Wildness'. The world changes from a greyscale depressed reality to a whimsical colour party.

The costume designs are punctuated by bright bold colours, Native American shapes and details, materials which resembles the nature (such as raffia, fur, bone/wooden beads). Each Wild Thing's animal image is carefully selected by their meaning in Native American culture (the spirit animals).
